Separation Anxiety
Dog Walking Services
Our organization not only offers training but we now offer dog walking! What’s the importance of dog walking you may ask. It’s extremely important for your dog in the following ways:
It helps with their mental health.
Walking is great mental enrichment activity for your dog as it allows them to see new sights and smell new smells.
It burns off excessive energy. This helps the dog focus more on your commands.
Deters separation anxiety while you’re away at work or out having a fun day.
Relieves boredom which can produce some destructive behaviors.
If you are crate training your dog, dog walking gives them a reprieve from their confines. A dog/ puppy shouldn’t be in a crate for more than four hours at a time and having a dedicated and experienced dog walker is a huge benefit!
Benefits of having your dog walked by a trainer:
Knowing your dog is walking with someone who has leash handling experience.
If you have a fear reactive dog you can rest assured that when I am walking your dog, I will be able to handle your dog and curb it’s reactivity.
Structured walks. This consists of no leash pulling, proper leadership (handler leading the dog not vice versa), practicing outdoor obedience and advocating for your dog (not letting strangers invade their space, or touch without permission).
Proper energy depletion strategies with your dog’s fulfillment in mind.
About Me
My name is Pat and I have a passion for dog training, nurturing leadership, stability and empowering people to take control of unwanted behavior their dog has been exhibiting in their life.
Qualifications:
Student at the Animal Behavioral College where I learned how to properly use the L.I.M.A (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive) approach to all training situations. I learned how to capture and shape new behaviors by using high value rewards and positive reinforcement.
Mentored under multiple CPDT (Certified Professional Dog Trainers) at different organizations that utilized different techniques, skills and methodologies.
Multiple successful rehabilitation of dogs ranging from simple functional obedience to highly reactive cases.
I am a life-long learner. I am constantly researching dog training and keeping up with the new techniques/trends to make sure your dog is trained with the latest and correct information.
I used to work in the maintenance field and left to pursue a job that would become my passion. I would not be on this path if it was not for my own dog, Gatsby. He is highly fear reactive towards people and dogs. After living with his reactivity for 7 years, thinking this dog was a curse, I decided to take control of this situation and research dog training. This led me down a path of self-discovery and I realized my passion and love for it. I am now a full-time dog trainer and I attribute my success and love for dog training to Gatsby. Without him I would not be the trainer I am today.
Goals as a Dog Trainer
My goals and training aspirations are to keep dogs off the euthanasia table, not having pets re-homed due to behavioral issues and providing balance and structure inside the home and on the leash. I am here not only to bring you peace of mind but to bring it to your dog as well.
I’m sure you’re asking yourself why are you should pick me out of everyone else? Here are some of the reasons:
I have a passion for dog behavior and training.
I will always put the dogs needs above anything else. I want your dog to have a positive training experience not a fearful one.
I am a life long learner so I will always be on top of the latest training strategies to be sure your is trained with the best and most humane methods.
I have successfully rehabilitated multiple dogs with fear reactivity.
I want to help dogs and families by giving you and your dog the right set of tools to ensure you both will life happy and peaceful lives.
One day, I would like to own and operate my own shelter/rescue alongside my training. I feel I would be able to make the most impact here by pairing up families with well-trained rescues so they can find their forever home.
